Capricorn Dancer is an architectural beach house in Woorim, on Bribie Island. We built a fast, editable website that brings the house, local activities, availability and estimated pricing together. Guests can explore the property, choose suitable dates and send an informed enquiry. The owner stays in control of accepting bookings and agreeing the final price.
The brief: support the host, don't replace her
The owner wanted to speak with guests before confirming a stay. Instant booking and online payment were not part of the brief. The useful work to automate was everything around that conversation: showing held dates, explaining minimum stays, calculating an estimate and sending both parties the information needed to continue by email.
A complete picture of the stay
Property details, photographs, amenities, information about Woorim and ideas for things to do help guests understand both the house and its surroundings before making contact.
Availability with minimum-stay guidance
The calendar imports held dates from an external booking calendar. Owner-managed rules allow different minimum stays during selected periods, and gaps too short for a valid stay are shown as unavailable. The feed refreshes periodically; it is not an instant reservation system. The host confirms availability and blocks accepted direct bookings in the source calendar.
Pricing that reflects the selected dates
The owner can manage base rates, weekend adjustments, seasonal rules and custom date prices in the backend. Eligible stays can receive weekly or other long-stay discounts, alongside a direct-booking discount. Guests see an averaged nightly rate, applicable discounts and an estimated total after selecting dates. The enquiry API recalculates the price from the saved rules before sending emails.
Pricing rules the owner can manage
The pricing editor brings base rates, weekend adjustments and seasonal rules alongside a calendar preview. The owner can see which rule applies to a night while managing the rates, rather than asking a developer to change each holiday period.
Different detail for guests and the host
The guest's email summarises the enquiry and estimated price, with clear wording that no booking has been confirmed or dates reserved. The host's email includes that same summary plus a daily rate breakdown, discount calculations and the cleaning fee. The next step is a personal reply, not an automated acceptance.
Content management without day-to-day code changes
Keystatic gives the owner control over page content, images, property information, activities, pricing and minimum-stay rules. Saving creates a GitHub commit; a successful Cloudflare Pages build publishes the update automatically.
A lightweight technical approach
Astro produces the static public pages. Cloudflare Pages Functions handle the availability feed and enquiry API, while the Keystatic CMS runs separately on a Cloudflare Worker. This keeps the public site lightweight while providing the dynamic features the enquiry needs. The current deployment is reported to run within Cloudflare's free tiers; usage limits and separate domain, email and maintenance costs still apply.
Mobile PageSpeed results
This mobile PageSpeed Insights snapshot shows 97 for Performance and 100 for Accessibility, Best Practices and SEO. These are Lighthouse lab results, not real-user measurements or an accessibility certification. Scores can vary between runs and as the website changes.
Delivered scope
A direct-enquiry website that supports the owner's existing workflow: guests can assess a stay before making contact, and the host receives the information needed to review it. Direct-booking discounts offer a way to share savings with guests without routing the reservation through a booking marketplace. This is a delivered capability, not a claim of measured booking growth or guaranteed savings.
